ABOUT OUR CANDLES

How to burn Wick Worx NZ Candles?

We recommend burning the candle for 3-4 hours at a time. Trim the wick to 1/4" before each lighting. Allow the candle to burn evenly by allowing the melt pool to reach the edges of the jars before extinguishing, which will prevent 'tunnelling'. Never leave a candle unattended or in reach of children, pets or a draft. Allow the jar to cool completely before handling. Please read the product warning labels for full instructions.

Why soy?

Soy wax is 100% renewable resource and carbon neutral. Soy candles are better for the environment and your health: they are non-toxic. It produces as much as 90% less soot than paraffin wax.

Soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin wax and because of this, soy candles will burn slower or longer than paraffin candles. Soy wax burns with zero petro soot, creating petro soot free candles.

What does 'Phthalate-free fragranced oils' mean?

This means we only use fragrance oils that are free of phthalate. "Phthalates are a group of chemicals used to make plastics more durable. They are often called plasticizers. Some phthalates are used to help dissolve other materials. Phthalates are in hundreds of products, such as vinyl flooring, lubricating oils, and personal-care products (soaps, shampoos, hair sprays)", as cited in https://www.cdc.gov/ .

How are your candles vegan & kosher?

Soy wax is 100% vegan because they don't contain any animal byproducts in the production or use, making them cruelty free and eco-friendly. Our soy wax is certified kosher, as it doesn't contain herbicides, pesticides, or genetically modified materials.

How fragrant are your candles?

We find that our candles fill a medium-size room nicely. For larger rooms, or rooms with high ceilings we recommend our larger 200g, 220g, 230g and 240g candles. Smaller candles are better burned at a desk, or in a small space such as a bathroom. Our aim is to produce candles with a pleasant aroma, without being overwhelming, or even sickly, but rather can be used every day.

Can the jar be repurposed?

When a 1/4" of wax remains, discontinue use of candle.

Boil water and pour it into the container, leaving some space at the top. Wait at least 20 minutes. Most of the wax will float to the top. Remove it and empty the container. If the wick is stuck, remove with a butter knife being careful to not scratch off the white paint finish if using the classic glass jars.

Soap and water can then be used to remove the wax residue. Use to store pens, plant succulents in or replace the candle with our premium refill options here !

Premium Candle Refills:

Why is the refill wax not fitting into the jar?

Wax expands and contracts in fluctuating temperatures, so it's best to pop the refill wax in the fridge for 10 - 20 minutes before popping into the jar.
