Candle Safety Guidelines

Candles create a beautiful ambiance, but safety should always come first. Follow these important guidelines to enjoy your WICK WORX candles safely.

Before You Light

  • Read the label - Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and warnings
  • Trim the wick - Ensure the wick is trimmed to 5mm before lighting
  • Check the area - Remove any flammable materials from around the candle
  • Use a stable surface - Place candles on a flat, heat-resistant surface

While Burning

  • Never leave unattended - Always extinguish candles before leaving a room or going to sleep
  • Keep away from children and pets - Place candles out of reach and never leave them accessible to curious hands or paws
  • Avoid drafts - Keep candles away from windows, fans, and air vents to prevent uneven burning
  • Keep candles apart - Place candles at least 10cm apart to prevent them from melting each other
  • Watch the flame - If the flame becomes too high or flickers repeatedly, extinguish and let cool before relighting
  • Stay in the room - Never leave a burning candle in an unoccupied room

Extinguishing Your Candle

  • Use a snuffer or lid - This is safer than blowing out, which can cause hot wax to splatter
  • Don't use water - Never use water to extinguish a candle as it can cause hot wax to splatter
  • Ensure it's completely out - Make sure the wick ember is no longer glowing
  • Don't touch immediately - Allow the candle to cool completely before moving or touching

Important Safety Rules

  • Never burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time
  • Stop using when 1cm of wax remains at the bottom
  • Never move a burning candle or one with liquid wax
  • Keep burning candles away from curtains, bedding, and other flammable items
  • Don't burn candles in enclosed spaces without ventilation
  • Never use a candle as a nightlight
  • Keep the wax pool free of matches, wick trimmings, and debris

Special Considerations

Pregnancy and Babies: While our candles are made with quality ingredients, consult your healthcare provider if you have concerns about using scented candles during pregnancy or around newborns.

Pets: Some fragrances may be irritating to pets, especially birds. Monitor your pets' behavior and discontinue use if you notice any adverse reactions.

Allergies: If you have fragrance sensitivities, start with unscented candles or test in a well-ventilated area.

In Case of Emergency

If a candle fire occurs:

  • Never use water on a wax fire
  • Use a fire extinguisher rated for Class B fires
  • Smother the flame with a metal lid or baking soda
  • Call emergency services if the fire spreads

Enjoy your candles safely! When used responsibly, candles are a wonderful addition to any home.
